Girls basketball: Chestatee rips Stephens County

GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee girls opened their Region 8-AAAA schedule Tuesday night with a 52-40 over Stephens County.

The Lady War Eagles (3-1, 1-0 Region 8-AAAA) led just 14-12 after the first quarter but outscored the Lady Indians 27-15 in the second and third quarters to take control of the game.

Bridgette Kelly led Chestatee with 16 points. Kayla Watson had 10 points and Savanna Long and Eramiss Hernandez had five points each for the Lady War Eagles.

Chestatee will be back in action on Friday traveling to River Ridge.
