Ga. dentist pleads guilty to Medicaid fraud

By The Associated Press
MARIETTA - Federal prosecutors say a metro Atlanta dentist has pleaded guilty to orchestrating a multimillion dollar Medicaid fraud scheme.

Officials said Monday that Kenneth Morris Wiggins, Jr. pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud in Cobb County Superior Court.

Authorities say Wiggins, owner and operator of Cosmetic and Family Dentistry of Roswell, fraudulently billed Medicaid for procedures on 220 patients that he never actually treated between January 2007 and March 2009.

Authorities say Georgia Medicaid paid Wiggins more than $2.2 million in the process.

Prosecutors say Wiggins was indicted in 2011 and fled to the Netherlands. Authorities found him in Belize in February and the U.S. Marshals brought him to the U.S.

Officials say Wiggins has been in the Cobb County Jail without bond since authorities brought him back to metro Atlanta.
