Dacula man identified as victim of Barrow crash

WINDER - The Georgia State Patrol has released the identity of the man killed in a Wednesday morning traffic accident in Barrow County.

The Georgia State Patrol said Thursday that 29-year-old Christopher Brett Morgan of Dacula was driving a Pontiac GTO southbound on Loganville Highway (Hwy. 81) when he crossed the centerline in a curve near River Mill Road and hit a Dodge Ram pick-up truck head-on. Morgan was pronounced dead on the scene, according to investigators.

The driver of the Dodge pick-up, Daniel Jason Smith, 36, from Loganville was injured and transported to Gwinnett Medical Center. There is no update on the extent of his injuries.

The accident occurred around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators did not indicate what the contributing factors in the accident might be.
