Falling tree kills man in east Georgia

By The Associated Press
AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) Authorities say an east Georgia man was killed when a tree fell on the tractor he was driving.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the accident happened Saturday in Columbia County.

Columbia County Deputy Coroner Harriett Garrison said 77-year-old Jeff Cash was using a Bush Hog when a rotting tree fell on top of the tractor.

Men who had been working nearby found Cash around 3 p.m. after they grew concerned when they could hear the tractor running but no longer saw Cash making his rounds.
