Ga. officer released from hospital after shooting

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - Atlanta police say an off-duty officer who was shot while working a side job has been released from the hospital.

Department spokeswoman Kim Jones says officer Christopher Smith was working at an apartment complex Saturday night when he was approached by a suspect who was carrying a shotgun.

Jones says the suspect shot the officer in his face and leg.

The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and was listed in serious condition.

Jones says the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
