Banks County lockdown lifted after no credible threat found

HOMER - Banks County officials lifted a campus lockdown at Banks County High School Friday afternoon that had been put in place after what sheriff's office officials called "an obscure note" inside a restroom at the school.

In addition to Banks County Sheriff's Office, a Hall County Sheriff's Office explosive detection K-9 was brought in to assist with searching the building for any type threat, said Deputy Carissa McFaddin.

Law enforcement personnel, including a Hall County explosive detection K9, are on-scene taking precautionary measures by searching the building for any type of threats.

The building was evacuated during the search, which involved Banks and Hall County emergency personnel, but officials no evidence of a credible threat was found.

"I greatly appreciate all agencies involved for their support related to the evolving situation," said Sheriff Carlton Speed.
