Two men shot in Winder, police make arrest

WINDER - A 23 year old man faces aggravated assault charges after allegedly shooting two men during a confrontation in Winder Monday night.

Winder Police Officer Chris Cooper said officers responded around 9:45 p.m. to a shots fired call at an apartment complex off of McNeal Road.

Cooper said officers found two men, ages 23 and 25, with gunshot wounds at an apartment. He said one was on the ground outside of the unit, the other inside the living room.

"A witness was nearby and actually told police who the shooter was. They (witness) had apparently seen this happen," Cooper said.

The alleged shooter, Tarrence Terrell Jennings, 23, had left the scene. Officers found Jennings nearby and talked to him.

"Jennings alleged that there was a dispute over money and that he was attacked by one of the individuals and claimed to have shot in self-defense. That's part of the investigation that we're still looking into," Cooper said.

Both of the men who suffered gunshot wounds were taken to area hospitals. One was transferred to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. One subject was in stable condition, the other in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, according to Cooper.

Police have not released their names.
