Well-known Gainesville pharmacist, former school board member dies

GAINESVILLE - The funeral will be held Wednesday for Ray Lawrence, a longtime drug store operator in Gainesville and former school board member, who died Sunday at the age of 80.

Lawrence bought Cochran Pharmacy in Gainesville in 1965 and later renamed it Lawrence Pharmacy. After he retired, he was a pharmacy volunteer at the Good News Clinic.

Lawrence was a former member of the Gainesville Board of Education and had also served as a board member for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County and the Guest House. He was a deacon at Lakewood Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 2:00 Wednesday at Lakewood.
