Parts of Cornelia City Park closed through January

By Rob Moore Reporter
CORNELIA - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Cornelia City Park on Wyly Street.

For that reason, some parts of the park are closed until further notice.

Cornelia City Manager Donald Anderson said the baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts and the road past the entrance gate are closed until after the annual Christmas in the Park light extravaganza.

City personnel currently are setting up lighted displays along the roadway, on Cecil Huff Memorial Field and at other locations inside the park.

"You can still access the walking trail," Anderson said. "That parking lot is outside of the gate. The walking trail is still usable."

The playground and picnic pavilion also remain open.

Other parks around the city remain open, including the adjacent dog park.

Christmas in the Park will be open from 5-11 p.m. seven days a week from Thanksgiving through New Year's.
