Some of the area's top youth golfers competed on Sunday in the final round of the 2013 Gainesville City Junior Open at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville -- including a blistering round from Gainesville's own Nathan Williams.
In the 10-13 age division, Stephen Fornsler shot a second round 72 for a two-day total of 142 (2-under par). Nick Lasseter and Ryan Hogan both fired 1-under par second rounds of 71. Lasseter finished second with 147 and Hogan was 3rd with 148.
Christian Payne shot a second round 82 for a two day total of 161 to take the top spot in the 14-15 age division. Payne was two shots clear of Davis Weaver (84-82 -- 163) and four shots over third place finisher Brady Holcomb (80-85--165).
In the 16-18 age division, the round of the day belonged to Gainesville High Red Elephant Nathan Williams, who shot an all-time tournament low round of 64, which included nine birdies. Williams' two-day total of 139 was three shots clear of first round leader Spencer Ralston. Ralston had back-to-back rounds of 71 for a total of 142, 2-under par. Hunter Young and Robert Shaw finished in a tie for third with 2 day totals of 147.
The winner in the girls 14-18 age division was Morgan Reece. Reece had a fine second round 79 to finish at 163 and two shots ahead of Allison Crenshaw (85-80 -- 163). Third place went to Ashleigh Bishop (86-83 -- 169)
