Freeze warning issued for Saturday morning

PEACHTREE CITY - A freeze warning has been posted for most of the northern half of Georgia for Saturday morning, according to forecasters from the National Weather Service.

The following counties are included in the freeze warning, which will be in place from 2 to 10 a.m. October 26.

FORSYTH-HALL-BANKS-JACKSON-MADISON-NORTH FULTON-GWINNETT-BARROW-CLARKE-OCONEE-OGLETHORPE-WILKES-DOUGLAS-SOUTH FULTON-DEKALB-ROCKDALE-WALTON-NEWTON-MORGAN-GREENE-TALIAFERRO-HEARD-COWETA-FAYETTE-CLAYTON-SPALDING-HENRY-BUTTS-JASPER-PUTNAM-HANCOCK-WARREN-TROUP-MERIWETHER-PIKE-UPSON-LAMAR-MONROE-JONES-BALDWIN-WASHINGTON-GLASCOCK-JEFFERSON-CRAWFORD-BIBB-TWIGGS-WILKINSON.

DADE-WALKER-CATOOSA-WHITFIELD-MURRAY-FANNIN-GILMER-UNION-TOWNS-CHATTOOGA-GORDON-PICKENS-DAWSON-LUMPKIN-WHITE-FLOYD-BARTOW-CHEROKEE-POLK-PAULDING-COBB-HARALSON-CARROLL.

GAINESVILLE...ATLANTA...LAWRENCEVILLE...ATHENS...DOUGLASVILLE...EAST POINT...DECATUR...CONYERS...COVINGTON...NEWNAN...PEACHTREE CITY...GRIFFIN...MILLEDGEVILLE...MACON...DAHLONEGA...CLEVELAND

Other details of the warning include:

* LOCATIONS...MAINLY ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM LAGRANGE TO MACON TO LOUISVILLE.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S.

* TIMING...FROM 2 AM TO 10 AM SATURDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...THOSE WITH SENSITIVE OUTDOOR PLANTS SHOULD MAKE PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT VEGETATION.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

A FREEZE WARNING MEANS FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO THREATEN OUTDOOR PLANTS. THOSE WITH AGRICULTURAL INTERESTS IN THE WARNED AREA ARE ADVISED TO HARVEST OR PROTECT TENDER VEGETATION.
