Georgia PK Morgan amongst those honored by SEC

By The Associated Press
BIRMININGHAM, Ala. -- LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger, Florida defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy and Georgia placekicker Marshall Morgan are the Southeastern Conference players of the week.

The SEC named its weekly winners on Monday.

Mettenberger completed 25 of 29 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns in the 10th-ranked Tigers' win over Mississippi State.

Purifoy returned his first career interception for a touchdown and had a forced fumble and his first sack for No. 17 Florida against Arkansas. He had three pass breakups.

Morgan kicked the game-winning 42-yard field goal in No. 7 Georgia's overtime win over Tennessee and scored 10 points.

Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson is freshman of the week.

Offensive line honors went to Georgia guard Chris Burnette. Missouri end Michael Sam is defensive lineman of the week.
