Softball: East Hall fights way past Fannin County, 8-7

By staff
East Hall and Fannin County traded leads seven times on Tuesday before the Lady Vikings ended up on top with an 8-7 win in seven innings over Fannin County.

East Hall sealed the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. The Vikings went up for good on a two-run single by Makenzie Robinson off Jace Armstrong, plating Kali Turner and Eboni Burce.

Josie Coker racked up two RBI on two hits for the Lady Vikings, including a third inning double.

Natalie Winters got the win for the East Hall despite allowing seven runs over seven innings. Winters struck out five, walked four and surrendered five hits.

The Lady Vikings Varsity jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Abby Black singled to ignite the Lady Vikings' offense. A stolen base then moved Black from first to second. Coker singled, scoring Black before Wilson scored on an RBI double by Emma House.

It didn't take long for Fannin County to answer, however, scoring three runs of its own in the first off a three-run home run by Mallory Deal.

After a quick strike from the Lady Vikings , Fannin County responded with one run in the third. East Hall tied the game in the fifth on a passed ball that scored Black. East Hall Lady never surrendered the lead after the seventh inning. The runs piled on thanks to a walk by Madison Brown.

The Lady Vikings will round out their regular season with a region battle at home against Banks County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
