Boys basketball: Red Elephants continue 8-AAAAA surge

WINDER -- The Gainesville boys basketball team continued to battle back in the Region 8-AAAAA standings on Tuesday night courtesy a 67-41 defeat of Winder-Barrow in Winder.

The Red Elephants (9-9, 4-6 Region 8-AAAAA) were led by Deshaun Watson, who had 17 points and five rebounds in the win. Shaquan Cantrell also had 13 points and nine rebounds, while Chase England added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Gainesville, which is 8-4 in its last 12 contests, plays again on Friday against Heritage in Gainesville.
