Sheriff identifies murder weapon

CLARKESVILLE - Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell says the gun used to kill Michael Cameron, 22, of Cornelia on Friday was .45 caliber handgun.

"It was a 1911 Colt Commander, .45 caliber," Terrell said.

Investigators believe Cameron was shot twice in the head while inside the home of his grandfather on Elrod Street Friday afternoon. Terrell said autopsy results are pending.

The victim's brother, Christopher Cameron, 28, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault in the crime.

A first appearance hearing for Christopher Cameron was held before Chief Magistrate Jim Butterworth on Monday. Any bond must be set by a superior court judge, Terrell said.
