GDOT hosting open house on widening SR 13

By Katie Crumley
BUFORD - The Georgia Department of Transportation and the City of Buford are hosting a public hearing next week on the proposed widening of State Route 13 (Buford Highway/Atlanta Highway) in Buford to State Route 347 (Friendship Road) in Hall County.

GDOT Spokesperson Teri Pope said the widening of the 1.65 mile stretch of roadway would improve traffic flow through the area by creating additional lanes for vehicles and sidewalks on both sides of the road for pedestrians.

"We had one public meeting on the project several years ago, so now we have come up with sort of our best buildable routes, and we want to bring that to the public and get input," said Pope.

She said the hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Buford City Hall.

"Getting the community's input on the front of the project is much more helpful, so if you live in the South Hall area, please come," said Pope.
