Former deputy pleads guilty to sexual exploitation of children

GAINESVILLE - A former deputy sheriff for White County pleaded guilty Monday to sexual exploitation of children.

An official with the Northern District of Georgia clerk of court's office said a second count involving child pornography charges against 32-year-old Christopher Davis of Dahlonega was dismissed.

Davis lost his job at the sheriff's office after his arrest in August 2011. Authorities said the arrest came after their discovery of sexually explicit photographs of a 7-year-old girl that were taken inside Davis' home.

Court officials said sentencing is set for Nov. 27.
