Stephens County fends off Hart County in scorefest

HARTWELL -- Stephens County grabbed an early and made it hold up in a 49-39 win over Hart County on Friday night in Hartwell.

The Indians (3-0) built a 21-0 advantage in the first quarter and led 49-26 in the second half before the Bulldogs finished the game with 13 straight points.

Stephens running back Chaz Thornton continued his assault on the season, carrying 40 times for 241 yards and three scores.

The Indians play host to Walnut Grove next Friday in Toccoa.
