The Jackson County softball team edged out Elbert County 5-4 in eight innings on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils held a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh but the Lady Panthers (9-10-1) scored in the bottom half -- Victoria Fontana driving in Alyssa Dasher -- to force extra innings and the international tie-breaker.
Jackson County pitcher Jessica Baker dominated the eighth, striking out the first batter faced and then forcing two pop-ups to keep Elbert scoreless.
Baker then sealed the win, with an RBI single, scoring Shelton Kendrix.
Baker pitched a complete game, allowing 10 hits, three walks and four runs. She also struck out four.
Dasher helped lead the Jackson County offense, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Mason Garland went 2-for-3, with a run scored and an RBI.
