Softball: Gunter no-hits GHS, as Lady Falcons win big

By staff
The Flowery Branch softball team continued its Region 8-AAAAA win streak thanks to senior pitcher Jessica Gunter, who threw a no-hitter for Flowery Branch in an 11-1 victory in five innings over Gainesville on Monday at The Lanier Pointe Softball complex

Gunter rounded out her sterling stat line with eight strikeouts and two walks and held Gainesville hitless over five innings for the complete game win.

The Lady Falcons (12-8, 4-2 Region 8-AAAAA) also put up 14 hits, including two extra base hits and scored four runs in the fifth inning on a two-run single by sophomore Kelly Kahlert, a groundout by junior Casey Zoeller and an RBI single by freshman Bailey Sims.

Sims racked up three RBIs on three hits for The Branch.

The Falcons play host to Salem on Thursday.
