CHATSWORTH -- The Chestatee cross country teams prevailed at the Cherokee Chase Challenge Mountain Trail run at Fort Mountain State Park on Thursday in Chatsworth. <br />
In the boy's varsity race, Chestatee had two runners medal in the 5K race. Jose Reyes Lavallee placed second overall with a time of 20:45 and Jason Dang earned the third place medal finishing at 21:22.<br />
The varsity girls swept the top three medals with Tori Mullinax, Sarah Beth English, and Shelby Bennett winning the honors respectively.<br />
In the Open Run Edgar Guerrero took second place and Christian Zapatero placed third overall.<br />
Next week, Chestatee will host the ninth Annual War Eagle Invitational on Thursday.
The Dawson boys basketball team extended their perfect start to the season to 13-0 -- their best opening in over 40 years -- on Saturday, claiming the Battle of the States tournament title in the process, 62-22 over Murphy, N.C., in Hiawassee.
