Woman indicted for leaving toddler alone in filthy house

CUMMING - A Forsyth County Grand Jury has indicted a woman from Cumming in a June case where her two year old son was left alone in a filthy house.

According to the General Bill of Indictment in Forsyth County Superior Court, Stephanie Davis is charged with first and second degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct.

In June, Forsyth County Sheriff's Capt. Tim House said a suspicious relative contacted them, saying they received a call from Davis, who told them she was in jail and that someone else was watching the child.

The relative told authorities, and they found the boy locked in a room of Davis' Boxer Lane home without food or water.

"The child was dressed in a dirty white t-shift. He had removed his diaper himself and it was on the floor, filled to overflowing with feces. The child had feces on his hands, feet and legs," Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton said in June.

Authorities placed the child in protective custody. They also rescued two dogs from the home.

According to the indictment, handed down earlier this month, the toddler was left alone for over 12 hours. Davis was 21 at the time of the incident.
