ATLANTA - Several Buford residents took concerns over deposits for natural gas to a Public Service Commission committee Thursday.
The Gwinnett Post reports that the city's gas customers pay a $300 deposit to the city's utility. That money is not returned unless the customer moves away.
Buford's city attorney Gregory Jay told the paper that the deposit policy was started during an economic downturn when the city experienced a rise in nonpayment from customers.
Jay said the city is already working on revisions.
