Barrow Co. drug roundup nets 28 arrests

WINDER - Authorities arrested 28 offenders in a major drug roundup Sunday in Barrow County.

Barrow County Sheriff's Investigator Matt Guthas said the 28 suspects arrested were among 75 that authorities were searching for following a lengthy investigation.

Guthas said that investigation included narcotics officers making numerous undercover purchases of drugs and controlled substances in recent months from dozens of offenders.

He said the Barrow County Sheriff s Office, Auburn Police, Winder Police, Statham Police, the Georgia Probation and Parole Office, the Barrow County District Attorny's Office, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were all involved in the large-scale arrest operation.

Guthas said authorities will continue to search for the remaining suspects.
