BETHLEHEM - A 20-year-old Monroe woman was killed in a Barrow County crash Thursday afternoon that also sent three others to area hospitals.
Officials with the Georgia State Patrol said a black Pontiac Sunfire driven by 20-year-old Robert Stefan Heard was attempting to make a U-turn in the middle of Georgia Highway 11 when he turned into the path of a pick-up truck near McElhannon Road. They said the pick-up struck the Pontiac in the front passenger door.
Authorities said a passenger in the Pontiac, identified as 20-year-old Tamara Tinch, was killed in the crash.
They said Heard and a second passenger in the Pontiac were transported to Athens Regional Hospital, where Heard was listed in critical condition. The driver of the pick-up was taken to Clearview Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.
