GAINESVILLE - A 25-year-old Gainesville man died while swimming in Lake Lanier Monday.
Melissa Cummings with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said Spencer Obe Dye was swimming with a friend in the Bolling Mill Park area when he started struggling in the water.
Cummings said Dye's friend, who was not identified, pulled him from the water and started CPR but was unsuccessful.
She said he was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m. Monday. No other details were immediately available.
