Cherokee Co. teen arrested on explosives charges

By Staff
CANTON - A 14-year-old Cherokee County boy was arrested Monday after authorities found six explosive devices inside his Canton home.

Authorities said they got a tip about the possibility of explosives in the home and obtained a search warrant to investigate.

The devices, along with bomb-making materials, have been turned over to federal ATF agents. During the course of Monday's investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation bomb squad detonated one of the devices at the scene.

Investigators said they were not sure what the teen planned to do with the explosives.

The GBI said the boy's parents are cooperating with the investigation.
