Elachee launches new program for toddlers, parents

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Elachee Nature Science Center Friday announced plans for Mommy and Me at Elachee, its newest pre-K program for 2- and 3-year-olds and their parents.

Starting Aug. 8, Mommy and Me at Elachee will feature hikes in the Chicopee Woods, plant and animal study, games, crafts and other seasonally based outdoor activities. Sessions will meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 10:00-11:30 through Dec. 12.

A $10 fee admits one child and parent to each individual program and will combine the best practices of both early childhood education and nature study.

Each class will be led by an early childhood education teacher, who will lead hands-on and discovery-based programs with parents and children. Parents will learn to guide their own child's nature learning experiences in their local park and even their own backyard.

For more information call 770-535-1976 or visit www.elachee.org.
