By staff
FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Atlanta Falcons announced today that single-game tickets for the 2012 season will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27.

"We are pleased to offer a limited number of single-game tickets to our fans in what promises to be a very exciting 2012 NFL season," said Falcons President & CEO Rich McKay. "Three of the four nationally televised games we are scheduled to play this season will showcase our team at the Georgia Dome where we are 26-6 over the past four seasons."

Falcons season ticket holders will receive the first opportunity to purchase extra single game tickets via an online pre-sale beginning on July 25. Season ticket holders will receive an email with a special code and instructions prior to that date.

Ticket availability for non-season ticket holders for the Falcons games versus the Broncos, Cowboys, Saints and Giants is very limited. To ensure a ticket to these most popular games, fans may purchase Season tickets, Five-Game Packs, or Game Day Suites by calling 855-222-FANS (3267) or at Season tickets start at $350 and Five-Game Packs start at $300.

The Falcons will look to continue the momentum of recording back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in team history. Under Head Coach Mike Smith, the Falcons are the only NFC team to post winning records in each of the last four seasons (2008-11). With Smith at the helm, Atlanta has posted a four-year record of 43-21, which is not only the best four-year mark in team history, but also ranks among the best four-year runs by any first-time head coach.

The Birds wrapped up the 2011 campaign in record setting fashion, as QB Matt Ryan, RB Michael Turner and WR Roddy White all established new franchise bests. Ryan broke the franchise record for passing yards in a single season after eclipsing QB Jeff George's club record of 4,143 yards set in 1995. Ryan finished the 2011 season with 4,177 passing yards, 29 touchdown passes and a 92.9 quarterback rating, all career highs. White became the Falcons all-time leading receiver with 7,364 career receiving yards, breaking Terance Mathis' franchise record of 7,349 yards set between 1994 and 2001. Turner also got in on the action, breaking Gerald Riggs' franchise record of 48 rushing touchdowns set between 1982 and 1988. "The Burner" led the NFC in rushing yards with 1,340 yards and added 11 touchdowns on the season.

In addition, TE Tony Gonzalez continued his ascension in the NFL record books, becoming the NFL's second all-time leading receiver with his 1,149 career receptions and climbed to 11th in League annals with his 13,338 career receiving yards and was named to his 12th Pro Bowl. Defensively, the Falcons enjoyed a breakout season from LB Sean Weatherspoon, who finished the season with a career-high 127 tackles (86 solo) and four sacks. DE John Abraham continued to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks, notching 9.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.

Atlanta went 6-2 at the Georgia Dome last season, which was tied for the fourth-best home record in the NFC. Since 2008, the Falcons own a 26-6 record at home, which is the best home record in the NFC and the third best in the NFL during that span.

During the offseason, the Atlanta remained committed to maintaining its core by re-signing its own players. During the last four seasons the Falcons rank second in the NFL in draft retention, retaining 81.3 percent of the players they have drafted during that time. Atlanta bolstered it roster in the 2012 NFL Draft by selecting C/G Peter Konz, T Lamar Holmes, FB Bradie Ewing, DE Jonathan Massaquoi, S Charles Mitchell and DT Travian Roberson. General Manager Thomas Dimitroff also orchestrated a trade to bring Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel to Atlanta, while adding veteran LB Lofa Tatupu to bolster the team's defensive unit.
