Atlanta police investigate package near City Hall

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta police have determined that a suspicious package found near City Hall was not a bomb.

Authorities received a call about the package shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday. Police evacuated City Hall and re-routed area traffic.

The Atlanta bomb squad was called to the scene to evaluate the package and after detonating it, determined it was only toiletries and clothing.

The surrounding streets that were shut down have since been reopened.
