Hall homes sales up 14.2 percent Jan.-May

GAINESVILLE - The number of home sales in Hall County the first five months of the year increased 14.2 percent over the same period last year.

The Norton Agency's Abernathy Cochran Group also reports that during the first two weeks of June, Realtors reported selling 89 houses with an average listing price of $161,000 and an average sales price of $151,200. Realtors also put 180 houses under pending sales contracts during that time. When you factor in sales from the first two weeks of June, the year-to-date increase is 13.2 percent, according to Realtor Brad Abernathy.

Abernathy also provided a breakdown of home sales in each section of the county and it shows sales are up in each one of them, led by sales of homes on Lake Lanier. Also included is the average sale price for each region and whether it is up or down compared to the same period a year ago:


City of Gainesville. Home sales up 16.5%. Avg sale price up 1.5%.

North Hall County. Home sales up 6%. Avg sale price down 12%.

East Hall County. Home sales up 20.5%. Avg sale price down 5%.

South Hall County. Home sales up 15%. Avg sale price down 6%.

West Hall County. Home sales up 13%. Avg sale price up 1.5%.


Lake Lanier. Home sales up 25%. Avg sale price up 2%.


As for the Abernathy Cochran Group, itself, Abernathy says "our closed sales are up 120 percent over the same time period one year ago. Our average sales price is up 17 percent.
