Gladiators win ECHL 2011-12 Marketing Award of Excellence

By Staff
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Gwinnett Gladiators are the 2011-12 recipient of the ECHL Award of Excellence for Marketing.

The award recognizes the ECHL team that executes a well-rounded marketing, sponsorship and advertising campaign with consideration given to sponsorship sales, advertising, marketing campaign and promotions.

The other finalists were the Bakersfield Condors, Colorado Eagles, Florida Everblades and Toledo Walleye.

The Gladiators introduced the "Atlanta's One & Only" marketing campaign to address the misconception that professional hockey was not available in the market following the Atlanta Thrashers' relocation to Winnipeg. This slogan was incorporated into all media advertising and team marketing elements. The team continued to offer the $5 Frenzy promotions, consisting of quality merchandise items offered for $5 with no age restrictions or limit, while supplies last. The Gladiators also offered an exclusive online-only advance purchase ticket discount and live appearance by media consumer advisor Clark Howard, which yielded the highest attendance of the season
