Suspect at large in overnight convenience store robbery

GAINESVILLE - A suspect in the robbery of a Gainesville convenience store early Thursday remains at large.

Gainesville Police Corp. Joe Britte said a black male approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall in his 40s entered "The Pantry" Kangaroo store on Jesse Jewell Parkway around 1:20 a.m.

He said the suspect, who was carrying a large knife, demanded that the cashier open the register and then took a small amount of cash and fled on foot.

Britte said the suspect was wearing an all-white painters suit, white hat, black boots and jewelry around his neck and left wrist.

He said the store clerk wasn't injured in the incident.
