PITTSBURGH - A national sporting goods chain has announced it will suspend sales of certain rifles following the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
Dick's Sporting Goods, which has numerous Georgia locations and is planning one in Gainesville at Lakeshore Mall, announced Tuesday that out of respect for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting they will be indefinitely suspending the sale of all modern hunting rifles at their stores nationwide.
In a statement posted on their website, the company also announced the removal of all guns from sale and display in their store nearest to Newtown.
No word was given on how long he suspension will last.
