Police investigate second armed robbery in Gainesville

By Bryan Pirkle Reporter
GAINESVILLE - Gainesville authorities responded to an armed robbery call Tuesday night at a convenience store on Industrial Boulevard around 7:30 p.m.

According to Gainesville Police Cpl. Joe Britte, two unidentified white males entered Wee Willy's Food Store, brandished pistols and began threatening a cashier.

The men were able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries, according to Britte. An investigation into the robbery is under way.

Britte said it's too early to tell if the robbery is related to an earlier robbery at a Sun Trust Bank branch on Thompson Bridge Road Tuesday afternoon.
