Still time to review, comment on Spout Springs plans

By Ken Stanford Reporter
GAINESVILLE - If you were not able to attend Thursday night's open house on plans to widen Spout Springs Road, you still have time to review the plans and comment, if you wish.

The stretch of road in question runs from roughly Hog Mountain Road to New Friendship Road. Proposed improvements include:

* through lanes
* bicycle and pedestrian facilities
* improved road access management
* improved roadway curvature to enhance safety
* turn lanes where needed for safer roadway operations

Comments can be sent to Glenn Bowman, State Environmental Administrator - Georgia DOT, 600 West Peachtree Street, 16th Floor, Atlanta, Georgia 30308. State officials say all comments will be considered in the development of the final project design and must be received by Dec. 21. Comments can be faxed to 404-377-9091 or emailed to

Additional information about the project can be found on Hall County's website at Plans and handouts can also be viewed at The Georgia DOT District Office located at 2505 Athens Highway in Gainesville. Project information is available on the DOT website,
