By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
ATLANTA - Two Hall County projects are included on the latest list of road work contracts approved by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

They are among several announced Thursday by GDOT calling for work statewide totaling nearly $43 million. Five new or rebuilt bridges are among the 14 projects.

In Hall County, Allied Paving Contractors was the low bidder for 1.4 miles of resurfacing and shoulder work on Dawsonville Highway from Bolling Bridge to Manor Ridge Road. The $413,048 project is scheduled for completion by Oct. 31, 2013.

The same contractor and completion date apply to the other project - .7 mile of resurfacing and shoulder work on Georgia 369 from State Route 11 to I-985/Ga. 419.

One other northeast Georgia project was approved - 3.3 miles of resurfacing and shoulder work on State Rout 53 in Barrow County beginning at the Jackson County line and extending to State Route 11. Another Barrow County project, the widening and reconstruction of North Broad Street from Porter Street to Stephens Street, was deferred.
