Girls basketball: Dawson County knocks off Lumpkin

DAWSONVILLE -- Dawson County held off a furious second half rally by Lumpkin County to take a 38-34 win Saturday at the Dawson County gym.

The Lady Tigers led 13-7 after the first quarter and then held the Lady Indians to just two points in the saecond quarter to build a 27-9 halftime lead.

Luympkin County would trim the lead to 35-19 heading into the fourth quarter and the Lady Indians used a 15-3 fourth quarter to mount a rally that fell just short.

Sheyenne Seabolt finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds to pace Dawson County. Carly Gilreath added 11 points, Ashley Parker had eight points and six rebounds and Whitney Glover scored three points for the Lady Tigers.

Morgan Wood had 17 points and nine rebounds and Randi Malone added six points to lead Lumpkin County.
