CUMMING - Forsyth County firefighters shut down A.C. Smith Road for several hours Wednesday afternoon while they fought to save an abandonded home in the northern end of the county.
According to Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Jason Shivers, firefighters were dispatched at approximately 5 p.m. in response to a house fire in the Silver City area of the county.
Although approxiamtely 25% of the building had already been consumed, firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in less than 10 minutes.
Shivers said that no injuries were reported as the residence appeared to have been abandoned long before the fire ignited.
A.C. Smith Road was reopened to traffic at 7:30 p.m.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
