Bodies found in two barrels in Lake Hartwell

By Staff
ANDERSON, S.C. - The bodies of a man and a woman have been found in two barrels discovered in Lake Hartwell on the Georgia-South Carolina line.

Investigators said they are treating the case as two related murders.

The woman has been identified as an Anderson, S.C. resident, although police have not released her name pending notification of relatives. Authorities did not say how she died, but they indicated she had been dead for at least a month.

The other victim is a man. An autopsy will be performed on his body Friday.

Authorities said the barrels were found on the South Carolina side of the lake near the Camp Reamer Bridge. They indicated the barrels were easier to spot because of the dropping level of Lake Hartwell.
