Police arrest teen in car break-ins

CUMMING - Police in Cumming have nabbed a 17 year old in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins at Movies 400.

According to police Sgt. Brian Zimbardi, officers found the suspect after getting a complaint about the break-ins. The suspect, identified as Victor Rivera, took off on foot.

Police caught him in woods behind the Mary Alice Park office complex. Investigators recovered most of the stolen items, valued at about $800. He suffered minor scapes and cuts while running from officers, according to police.

He faces several charges, including burglary and theft by taking, criminal damage to property and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He allegedly broke into four vehicles.

Police suspect him in a similar case at the DMV on Pilgrim Mill Road earlier in the week.

The arrest came following the foot chase at the theater Sunday night.
