NGTC's Scobee reaches GED graduate milestone

By Staff
CLARKESVILLE - Marvin Scobee is committed to adult literacy. For the past 20 years, he has dedicated his energies and talents as a tutor preparing students to take the GED Exam. Recently, Scobee was given a certificate of appreciation for reaching a milestone of more than 500 GED graduates.

"Marvin's dedication and passion to adult education is invaluable to the community and to North Georgia Technical College," noted NGTC Dean of Adult Education Shelby Ward as she presented the award. "It is remarkable, rewarding, and exciting to have helped so many people earn their GED. The great thing is that he is still working in the program and that number will continue to grow as he changes lives in our communities."

Marvin's roles with the NGTC Adult Education Department have included full time instructor in Rabun County, part time teacher in Franklin and Habersham counties, and volunteer teacher in the local jails. He has also been a NGTC Foundation Trustee Board member.
