Wheeler sentenced to 15 years

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
GAINESVILLE - A man convicted of enticing a child for indecent purposes in Hall County received a 15 year sentence this week.

According to Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh, 49 year old Weyman Edward Wheeler was sentenced to ten years in prison and five years probation.

Darragh said two of the most significant conditions of the probation are that Wheeler must register as a convicted sex offender and have no contact with the victim.

Wheeler was arrested a year ago in May for having a consensual sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

A jury last month found Wheeler not guilty of aggravated child molestation. There was a hung jury on charges of statutory rape and child molestation.

Sentencing was held Monday, according to Darragh.
