Critical injury in Gillsville area crash

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
GILLSVILLE - A head-on traffic accident in Gillsville blocked the road for a time and trapped one of the drivers Wednesday afternoon.

According to Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell, it happened on Highway 52 near Diamond Hill Road, injuring both drivers.

"The were flown to Grady Hospital in Atlanta with critical injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by Hall County ambulance with non life-threatening injuries," Kimbrell said.

The accident happened before 4:00 p.m.

Kimbrell said the drivers were the only people involved in the crash.

"One was entrapped and had to be extricated," Kimbrell said.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
