MACON -- The Lakeview Academy boys cross country team finished eighth in the Class A private championships on Saturday in Macon.<br />
Last year's Lions team finished 17th at the state meet. This year's Lakeview team averaged 17 minutes, 59 seconds.<br />
Dustin Snyder led the Lions, placing 17th individually (17:13). Lewis Brooks was also 24th (17:28), while Dalton Snyder was 44th (18:03).<br />
Kyle Lewis (18:35), Grant Hocker (18:40), Clint Walker (19:17) and Joe Pennington (19:19) also competed for the Lions.
The Dawson boys basketball team extended their perfect start to the season to 13-0 -- their best opening in over 40 years -- on Saturday, claiming the Battle of the States tournament title in the process, 62-22 over Murphy, N.C., in Hiawassee.

The NFL awarded Super Bowls to Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles, three cities that made significant financial investments in new stadiums or recently upgraded an existing one. Atlanta will host the game in 2019, followed by Miami (2020) and Los Angeles (2021), it was announced Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings.
