Gwinn. auto dealersip under investigation

By The Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Federal transportation officials are investigating reports that a Georgia Nissan dealership sold a recalled vehicle without performing mandatory repairs.

Investigators report they are looking into at least one case of a Nissan Quest minivan sold by the Gwinnet Place Nissan dealer, in Duluth, Ga.

The investigation notice was posted online Saturday to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website.

U.S. transportation laws bar dealers from selling recalled vehicles unless they perform necessary repairs.

The dealer's general manager, Lee Crumpton, said Saturday he was alerted to the issue early last week, and that the mistake was isolated to one vehicle.

Crumpton says nothing happened to the customer or the car, which has since been repaired by another dealership.
