By staff reports
JEFFERSON -- Jackson County is Columbus-bound.

The Lady Panthers' softball team swept past Fannin County 3-2, 9-7 in a Class AAA playoff doubleheader on Wednesday to claim a spot in the eight-team Class AAA tournament in Columbus.

Jackson County will take on Chapel Hill in the first game of the Columbus championship tournament, beginning on Oct. 25.

The Lady Panthers could be joined by a number of other area teams in Columbus, including Buford, which split its first two games in a best-of-three series with Franklin County on Wednesday.
