Chestatee runs win streak to five, thrashes Walnut Grove

By staff
GAINESVILLE -- Chestatee came out determined to avoid a second straight scare this week.

After posting a comeback win over Johnson last Friday, the War Eagles crushed Walnut Grove this Friday, allowing just 161 yards in a 51-0 rout in Gainesville.

The War Eagles (5-1, 3-0 Region 8-AAAA) exploded for 556 yards of offense, including 493 yards rushing, as they put up 27 third quarter points to put the game out of reach.

AJ Sijiye and Tray Bryant each took turns leading the Chestatee ground game, rushing for 117 and 102 yards, respectively. Sijiye added one touchdown, while Bryant scored twice. Quarterback Jordan Degraff also rushed for 68 yards and a score, while Quan Clark added 54 yards and a touchdown. Degraff also completed 3 of 5 passes for 64 yards.

Chestatee ran its win streak to five straight games and began to set its sites on Lanier and a key Region 8-AAAA battle next Friday in Gainesville.

Degraff opened Friday's scoring on a 37-yard scoring run before Sijiye stamped the War Eagles' authority on the game with a 92-yard touchdown sprint to start the second quarter.
