Jackson Co. Chamber forms search committee for CEO

By Staff
JEFFERSON - The Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce has formed a search committee to fill its vacant President/CEO position.

The post was left vacant in August when then-President Shane Short resigned.

The committee will accept applications through November 2, 2012, and report back to the chamber board of directors, with the goal of having the vacancy filled by January 2013.

"The committee is seeking an individual with an understanding of economic and community development, strategic planning and implementation experience, and proven creativity and innovation in the profession," said Chamber Board Chairman Keith Johnson. "We'll be looking for candidates whose skill set includes outstanding consensus building, as well as interpersonal, verbal, and written communication."

Johnson said the search would cover the state of Georgia.

According to a press release issued Friday, applicants will need a Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, business, finance, or related field, and a minimum of five years' experience in a leadership position with increasing responsibilities at a chamber of commerce, private business, non-profit, or related field.
