Gainesville police look for armed robbery suspect

By B.J. Williams News Director
GAINESVILLE - An armed robber held up the Super Mercado store on Industrial Boulevard in Gainesville Friday night, and authorities are still looking for the suspect.

Gainesville Police Department Cpl. Dallas Bright said the suspect is a male with slender build, but he said because of the way he was dressed, witnesses could not provide much more of a description for investigators.

"[He was] wearing all black clothing, a mask and gloves," said Bright.

Bright said the suspect did have a handgun, but no one was hurt in the incident.

The suspect fled the scene in a full-size blue pickup truck, according to Bright; he was able to get away with an undetermined amount of cash.

Bright said officers were called to the hold-up site at 8:43 p.m.
